We also follow the crises that never make the news
The world's attention usually turns to a few large crises, and in the others families are quietly left alone. According to CARE's report published in January 2026, eight of the ten crises that got the least coverage in 2025 were in Africa. We review the alerts from these countries too: 319 in Angola, 223 in Zambia, 39 in Namibia and 14 in Zimbabwe. CARE's report
We give every alert an urgency score. When a crisis scores above 50 we watch it closely, and above 70 our team goes to the field. So far 91 alerts have scored 70 or more, and 284 have been placed under close watch.

Winter storm relief in Anchorage
OngoingOur own team and our local partner are bringing winter coats, blankets, sleeping bags and hot meals to unhoused neighbors and families hit by the storms around Anchorage. On October 30, 2026, gusts of up to 79 mph swept Southcentral Alaska and left tens of thousands of customers without power. We work in close coordination with the local authorities.

Zakat handed to families in Gaza
OngoingOur own team and our local partner in Gaza hand zakat to families in person. We visit each family and confirm that it is eligible to receive zakat, and the family decides how to use it for its most urgent needs. In October 2026, 90 percent of people in Gaza relied on humanitarian food aid. Zakat is kept in its own file and is never used for buildings or construction.

Zakat handed to families in Yemen
OngoingOur local partner in Taiz, Lahj and Aden hands zakat in person to families forced from their homes and to families whose income has stopped. The partner visits each family and confirms that it is eligible to receive zakat, and the family decides what its own kitchen needs first. More than 290,000 people across Yemen have been forced from their homes since the beginning of August 2026. Zakat is kept in its own file and is never used for buildings or construction.

Hurricane Simon
OngoingOur own field team and our local partner have been on the Colima coast around Manzanillo since 10 October 2026. That work is what your gift supports. Families move to safety before the rain and nobody whose home flooded is left on their own. The crew on the ground sets each day's work. A family back in a flooded home gets drinking water with hot food and dry blankets. Buckets and cleaning supplies go out for emptying the house and the injured get first aid.

Support for manatees on the Indian River Lagoon
OngoingFrom November 27, 2026, our own field team and our volunteers will support licensed manatee rescue teams on the Indian River Lagoon in Florida through the cold months. We provide rescue transport support, veterinary supplies and care supplies for manatees in rehabilitation, and our volunteers clear discarded fishing line and litter from the lagoon shoreline, while only licensed and authorized rescue teams and veterinarians handle and treat the manatees. An Unusual Mortality Event linked to the loss of seagrass in the Indian River Lagoon began in December 2020 and its investigation is ongoing, and manatees need water warmer than 68 degrees Fahrenheit to survive long cold spells. We work in close coordination with the local authorities.

Whale stranding readiness on the coasts of New Zealand
OngoingOn November 5, 2026, pilot whales stranded on the Ngawi coast in the southern Wairarapa and none of the surviving whales could be saved. Our local partner in New Zealand is equipping stranding responders along the coasts for the strandings to come. We provide fuel, refloating equipment, wet covers, cold water gear and veterinary supplies. Only responders working under the direction of the Department of Conservation handle the whales and only veterinarians treat them. The Department of Conservation has recorded more than 5,000 strandings since 1840 and responds to an average of 85 incidents a year. We work in close coordination with the authorities.

The numbers you see here are the gifts recorded through our website and the giving platforms. A far larger share of the help in the field is still carried by our founders from their own means, just as it has been since 1980. We do not write this to boast. We write it because we owe it to you: we want you to know that what you entrust to us becomes comfort for a family in pain.

Our real costs are far higher than these portions, and our founders gladly cover the difference themselves.
The 8% set aside from gifts covers only part of our records, accounting and compliance work. Everything else, from the office to field vehicles, from travel to long days on the ground, is paid for by our founders from their own means.
Our family has walked this path the same way since 1980. That is why 92 of every 100 dollars you entrust to us go straight to the field, into the hands of families.

What you may wonder
This report
The report runs from December 30, 2024, when our foundation was formed, to today. 2025 is our founding year and the year of our first major responses in the field. The 2026 sections are live: crisis monitoring, emergency missions and the counters refresh every 15 minutes from our own records.
Because we want our report to tell a truth that changes every day. A PDF is out of date the day it is published, while this page updates with every new day in the field. You can verify our official records yourself with official sources such as the IRS, Delaware and Candid.
Crisis monitoring, emergency missions, the counters and system health refresh every 15 minutes. The monthly summary of recorded gifts is updated whenever a new period of records is added.
Because this work began in 1980. Since then, our family has helped people in need with its own means, never asking for anything in return. On December 30, 2024, we turned that effort into a formal foundation that anyone can see. That is our official founding date.
The numbers
An alert is a notice that an official source issues on a given day about a hazard or a crisis in a country. The same crisis can bring alerts from many sources over many days. That is why this report counts the alerts we review, not crises.
Our counters started from our numbers on October 2, 2026, the day our record stream began. Every gift recorded since then reaches at least one family, so it adds one to the family counter. The lives counter grows by four people per family, the meals counter by one meal for each of a family's four members for food and water gifts, and the projects counter with every new appeal we publish.
Our Emergency Response Center follows crises around the world through official sources and gives each one an urgency score. We go to the field for crises scoring 70 or higher. We always put the families in the hardest situations first, especially women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities and the sick.
We follow disasters around the world in real time through official sources. When a major disaster strikes, our first step is to reach our team and field partner in that region. Together we assess the need on the ground, buy locally whenever we can and hand aid to families ourselves.
Gifts and costs
92% of your gift goes straight to field projects. 5% keeps the foundation running, and 3% supports awareness work that helps us reach more hearts. Our real costs are far higher, and our founders gladly cover the difference themselves.
Our real costs are far higher than the 8% set aside from donations. Our founders gladly cover the difference from their own means. That is how 92% of your gift goes straight to the field.
Our emergency appeals support everything our team does in that disaster. Search and rescue and evacuations come first, then the help that reaches families as they return home. Within 72 hours, we write to tell you the region your gift reached, which day of the response it was and which stage it joined.
Within 72 hours of your gift, we write to you with the region and the day it reached. In projects, the region, step and date are added to your account as each stage is completed. That way, you can follow your kindness at every step.
No. We never publish our donors' names, and the gift record on our website never shows your name. When you give through a platform, you can usually choose whether your details are passed on to us.
Trust and verification
Simply search for our EIN (35-2882867) in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. You can also find our organization details and our 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency on our Candid profile.
We file our annual return with the IRS on Form 990-EZ every year. Our organization details and transparency seal are public on our Candid profile. If anything is unclear, simply write to us.
We want to keep them from being altered and misused. Instead, we will send our IRS determination letter, our W-9 and any other document you need right away, through a secure and trackable channel. You can also verify our tax exemption in the IRS's own search at any time.
Of course. We will gladly send your company or organization our W-9, our IRS determination letter and any other documents you need through a secure, trackable channel. Simply write to us.
Throughout the day, we screen our donors, partners and suppliers against five official lists. They are the US Treasury's two OFAC lists, the US Commerce Department's Consolidated Screening List, and the UN Security Council and UK lists. The lists are refreshed in full every week. We never work with any sanctioned person or organization.
We could not find a question that matches your search. If you write to us, we will gladly help.
How the urgency score is calculated
Our Emergency Response Center gives every alert an urgency score between 0 and 100. The score is recalculated in every scan, so a crisis's score can change over the days.
