Under the repaired roof children sit without fear of rain soaking their books; for the first time a pupil smiles and says, "I have homework today."

School Reborn: 5 Classrooms, 500 Students
A single piece of chalk becomes the first sound that tells a child the lesson has begun again. In Yemen and Gaza you rebuild the roof, the broken windows and the wiring of a school that fell silent in the rain; our team carries in the desks, mounts the board, fits the lighting and the handwashing station, furnishes the staff room and packs stationery and a cleaning kit into every child's bag. When five classrooms are ready, five hundred children walk back through the door; a plan tracks absences and a mentor is assigned to every child at risk. On opening day, when the bell for the first lesson rings, a GPS stamped photo of the school, a signed enrolment list and a short clip land in your account.
