Dignity Washpoint: Hygiene with Honour
In May 2026 rodents were found in eight out of ten displacement sites in Gaza. Skin disease was common in nearly half of them. Women and girls need a private and safe place to wash and use the toilet at night and during their periods. The Dignity Washpoint is a modular washing and toilet point for a crowded site with its own women's section. Used water is drained away. The point is cleaned every day. Women and girls receive hygiene kits. Two points are planned. Each one shortens the queue for hundreds of families. Because parts depend on what is allowed into Gaza some are built from local materials. The modular unit and its water and lighting are paid for by your gift along with a cleaner's wages and the hygiene kits. Every stage we finish is recorded in your account by date and region. Amal is seventy. She stays with her son's family in a damaged school building in the Nasr area of Gaza City. The nearest shower is across a crowded yard. She has not washed properly for weeks. She avoids the latrine altogether after dark because there is no light. This site is where our local partner plans the second hygiene point.
