The Arakan Camps | Emergency Aid When the Monsoon Hits

The monsoon strikes the same ground in the Cox's Bazar camps every year. Flood and landslide bring down bamboo shelters and foul the water points. A Rohingya family displaced from Arakan receives a hot meal and clean water with a hygiene pack. A family whose shelter has fallen also receives tarpaulin and cover. Our team decides the need tent by tent. A notebook and pencils for a child go on the same run in some tents. Which tent the help entered is written with its date and location. That record reaches your donor panel with its photo within 72 hours. The family is followed until the monsoon passes. May ALLAH leave no one in the open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this donation

1What does emergency aid to the Arakan camps carry?

A hot meal and clean water with a hygiene pack. A family whose shelter has fallen also receives tarpaulin and cover.

2How is the most critical need decided?

Our field team visits the tents one by one. In one tent that is a hot meal and water. In another it is a child's notebook and pencils.

3What does the monsoon hit in the camp?

Flood and landslide bring down the bamboo shelters. The water points are fouled and sickness spreads fast.

4How do I see the handover?

Which tent the help entered is written with its date and location. That record reaches your donor panel with its photo within 72 hours.

5Is my gift mixed with other aid?

No. Every gift is tied to one family and stays on that family's record.

6What does following until the monsoon passes mean?

The team visits the same tent again until the rains ease and notes how the family is doing.

7What happens when a landslide cuts the path?

The team enters the block once the path is cleared and hands the aid to the family there.

8Do notebooks and pencils go too?

Yes. They are a secondary item. The notebook and pencils reach a child when that is the most critical need.

9What is in the hygiene pack?

Cleaning supplies with infant care items. This pack slows the spread of sickness in a wet tent.

10Does a small amount help?

Yes. A hygiene pack costs a small amount and protects a baby through the wet weeks.

11Which parts of the camp do you reach?

Kutupalong with the Balukhali Jamtoli Nayapara Hakimpara Shamlapur Lambasia Unchiprang and Chakmarkul blocks.

12Can I get a tax deduction receipt?

Yes. Quenara is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Delaware in the United States. Your receipt stays in your donor panel.

13Can I give regularly?

Yes. You can reach one more family each month through the rainy season.
