Insulin and Diabetes Support | Insulin on the Shelf and Strips in the Drawer

Diabetes is now part of daily life for 830 million people according to the WHO and that number has quadrupled since 1990. For anyone who depends on insulin a missed refill is not an inconvenience but an emergency waiting to happen. The WHO also reports that 59 percent of adults over thirty living with diabetes were not taking any medicine for it. In the United States Medicare limits the monthly cost of each covered insulin to $35 yet working adults on private plans or with no coverage at all can still face steep pharmacy bills. Test strips run out too and without them nobody can safely judge the next dose. Your gift covers one concrete need for one person. It may be an insulin copay at the pharmacy counter or a box of test strips or an endocrinologist's fee. The prescribing clinic tells us what is missing and our field staff settle the bill with the pharmacy or the clinic. Nobody receives cash. Our own team carries out this work in Mississippi and Alabama and along the Texas coast. Inside 72 hours your account shows the town of the pharmacy or clinic that was paid. May ALLAH keep every refill on time and give strength to everyone managing this condition each day.

What Our Donors Say
Bethany W.
Knoxville, Tennessee
My dad has type 2 diabetes and I watched him cut his doses in half one winter. I give so another father never has to do that.
Camille D.
Lansing, Michigan
As a school nurse I see kids with type 1 every week. Strips and insulin should never depend on what a parent earns.
Jordan Q.
Peoria, Illinois
I wanted my money to reach the pharmacy and not get lost along the way. This appeal does exactly that.
Danielle P.
Topeka, Kansas
A news story about people rationing insulin made me angry and then it made me act. I found this page that evening.
Erin T.
Lincoln, Nebraska
My sister was diagnosed at twelve. Our family was lucky to have coverage and I think about the families who are not.
Kevin U.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Insulin is needed every month so I set up a monthly gift. One refill at a time works for me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this donation

1Which charities can I donate to for insulin costs?

Quenara Foundation accepts gifts on this page and in its app. A diabetes gift covers an insulin copay or test strips or a specialist visit for one person.

2Which charities help people who cannot afford insulin?

Quenara Foundation does through its own field staff in the southern US who pay pharmacies and clinics directly.

3How many people live with diabetes?

The WHO says the number rose from 200 million in 1990 to 830 million in 2022.

4How many adults with diabetes go without treatment?

The WHO reports that 59 percent of adults aged thirty and over living with diabetes were not taking medication in 2022.

5Does Medicare cap the cost of insulin?

Medicare Part D limits the monthly cost of each covered insulin product to $35. People with private plans or no coverage are not included in that limit.

6Why are test strips so important?

Checking blood sugar guides each insulin dose and helps prevent dangerous highs and lows. Without strips people are left guessing.

7What does my gift pay for?

One insulin copay or one box of test strips or one endocrinology visit copay. The clinic or pharmacy decides which is needed.

8Do you give cash to patients?

Each payment is made to the pharmacy or clinic itself once the prescription or visit is confirmed. Nothing is handed to the patient.

9Is diabetes deadly?

The WHO estimates that diabetes and kidney disease caused by diabetes led to about 2.4 million deaths in 2023. Good daily care prevents most complications.

10Where do you work on diabetes?

Our own field staff work in Mississippi and Alabama and along the Texas Gulf Coast.

11Who decides what is paid for?

The prescribing clinic. Our team checks the amount with the pharmacy or clinic and pays it there.

12When will my account show where my gift was used?

The town of the pharmacy or clinic is added to your account within 72 hours.

13Can I give every month?

Yes. Monthly giving fits a condition that needs a refill every single month.
