Common questions about this donation
Hurricane Simon passed ninety kilometres off Manzanillo on Sunday 11 October 2026 with winds near 240 kilometres an hour. Rain and surf hit the Colima coast all weekend. When the Cuyutlán lagoon rose the water came into the districts of Manzanillo.
Yes. We have had our own field team and a local partner on the Colima coast around Manzanillo since 10 October. The crew was with families before the hurricane came close. Now it works beside them as they return to their homes.
Thank you for asking. Your gift supports our crew's work in Hurricane Simon. We move families to safety before the rain comes. A family back in a flooded home receives drinking water with hot food and dry blankets. Buckets and cleaning supplies go out for emptying the house. We bring hygiene kits and first aid ourselves.
When the lagoon rose the water in the streets mixed with homes and wells and tap water cannot be trusted. Our crew carries drinking water to families.
Simon turned north and moved on towards the Nayarit and Sinaloa coast. The sea around Colima is still high and rain returns most afternoons. For families whose homes flooded the hard days are only starting.
Sadly yes. When the Cuyutlán and Juluapan lagoons rose crocodiles followed the water into the flooded streets and four were moved to safety by the authorities. Our crew reminds families to keep away from standing water.
We truly appreciate the thought. Needs on the ground change from hour to hour. Our crew decides each day's work on site. This way your gift reaches the most urgent place without delay.
Within 72 hours your account shows the municipality and the district along with the day of the response. The task your gift covered is in the same notice.
Home repairs and the relocation of coastal families are led by the government's own programme. This appeal is focused on water with food and dry beds in the first days.
Families moving to a shelter or to relatives are welcome to bring their cats and dogs. Our crew takes care not to separate families from their pets during an evacuation.
Your receipt is emailed to you as soon as your donation goes through and it carries your donation number.
Your gift stays with our crew working in Hurricane Simon and is never moved to another campaign.
