A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the Flores Sea on the night of 14 August 2026. Around 1.7 million people stood inside the zone of heaviest shaking and aftershocks are continuing.
Because the supplies wait in a warehouse before any gift arrives. They fly out by cargo plane, come through customs, reach the island by air and finish the trip on the water.
Clean water, blankets, food that needs no cooking, essential medicine and infant care. It carries one family through three days.
A photograph, a location and a date are recorded to your donor panel for every handover. Those records stay open to you.
Illness begins where clean water stops. Infants and older people lose their body heat quickest. Small injuries turn septic. What happens in three days sets the rest.
Flores sits offshore and the quake shut the roads. Vehicles stop at the harbour, and everything past that point moves by boat and on foot.
Local partners in and around Flores who were already working there before the ground moved. That is why we get in early rather than waiting for access.
Everything happens outdoors. Neither our teams nor the families step inside a damaged building while the tremors are still going.
