Support for flying foxes in the summer heat in Illawarra:
From December 1, 2026, our own team, our local partner and our volunteers will support licensed wildlife carers caring for flying foxes in Illawarra and Sydney through the summer heat. We provide misting sprinklers for flying fox camps, drinking water, cooling supplies, transport for carers and veterinary supplies, while only licensed and vaccinated carers handle and treat the flying foxes. During the January 2026 heatwave, a record 700 flying foxes died at two camps in Wollongong. We work in close coordination with the local authorities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this donation
Quenara Foundation pays to truck water to wildlife watering points that fail during long droughts including fuel and trough repairs. Rangers and park managers decide where and when the water goes.
Thank you for asking. Your gift covers fuel and upkeep for the vehicles that haul water to dry sites. Trailers and tanks and trough repair materials are part of it too.
A fair question. The cost is moving water rather than the water itself. Fuel and servicing and trailers and repairs are what your gift covers.
Thanks for asking. Protected area managers and rangers choose each site and its timing. Our team does not take part in that choice and never enters closed areas.
We appreciate the question. The center's permitted crew hauls the water and sets up the tanks. The Quenara team covers the costs and works beside the center in the field.
That is an important concern. Licensed specialists and veterinarians watch each site. If they see signs of disease or poor water quality they decide whether to close it.
Thank you for understanding. Permanent water is not right everywhere. Water goes only to sites the managers set and only for as long as it is needed.
A good point. Specialists weigh how far each site sits from homes and farms. That is why the location is chosen with care on the ground.
Thanks for asking. Where it is needed part of a gift helps repair a borehole. The permitted crew does the drilling and the repair work.
Within 72 hours your account shows the district or city and the work done. It might read water hauling or trough repair.
In the US and Australia our own field team works with the center. In countries such as Kenya a local field partner works alongside our team.
The moment your payment clears your receipt reaches your email. Your donation number sits at the top.
Thank you for your interest. Gifts are accepted only at quenarafoundation.com and in the Quenara app.
We are always glad to hear from you. Write to us through the contact page on the site or the support section in the app. Our team will reply as soon as it can.
