Wildfire wildlife rescue in Limpopo:
Our field team and our local partner are on the ground now in Limpopo, South Africa, in the middle of the fires in protected areas. In one week of October, satellites recorded 150 high confidence fire alerts in these protected areas, 7.5 times the usual level for this place and season. In coordination with the local authorities, we are moving wildlife safely out of the fire zones, giving burn and veterinary care, setting up water points in the burned bushveld and supporting habitat recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this donation
Quenara Foundation funds licensed wildlife centers that nurse wildlife hurt by cars or fishing line back to health for release. Treatment stays with licensed rehabilitators and vets.
It funds care at licensed centers. That means rescue transport and exams and medicine under a vet. It also covers incubators with oxygen and food until each patient is ready for release.
Thank you for asking. Treatment is given only by licensed rehabilitators and vets. Our team covers the costs and works on site beside the center.
The center's own authorized team does the rescue and transport. In the US moving migratory birds regularly requires a permit. We pay for the vehicle and the supplies.
Within 72 hours your account shows the district or city and the job your gift covered. That may be transport or treatment or intensive care or release preparation.
We appreciate your care. The center's specialist decides which patient comes first. Your gift supports the whole program.
Please avoid handling it and contact the nearest licensed rehabilitator. Do not give it food or water. A trained person will take it from there.
Often it is not and a parent may be close by. A licensed rehabilitator can tell you whether the bird needs help.
It depends on the species and the injury. In the US a migratory bird held beyond 180 days needs regional approval. Healed birds go back once the season allows.
The licensed team makes that decision. A bird that cannot return to the wild may only be moved elsewhere with prior approval.
Our own field team works with centers across the US. In other countries our team works side by side with a local field partner.
It reaches your email the moment your donation clears. Your donation number sits at the top.
