Support for koalas in South East Queensland:
From November 27, 2026, our own team, our local partner and our volunteers will support licensed koala rescuers across South East Queensland through the bushfire season. Through the breeding season we provide licensed wildlife carers with rescue transport, veterinary supplies, fresh eucalyptus leaves and care supplies for koalas in rehabilitation, and our volunteers plant native koala food trees, while only licensed carers, rescuers and veterinarians handle and treat the koalas. Australia's fire authorities forecast a heightened bushfire risk across South East Queensland for spring 2026, and koalas in Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory have been listed as endangered since 12 February 2022. We work in close coordination with the local authorities.

Orangutan rescue in the Ketapang fires:
Our own team and our local partner are supporting licensed wildlife rescuers in Ketapang with transport, veterinary supplies, food and clean water. In mid October 2026, the orangutan rescue centre in the regency was caring for 90 orangutans after rescuing 49 since August. The centre is full, and at least 15 more orangutans are known to be stranded in burned areas. We work in close coordination with the local authorities.

Steelhead out of Topanga:
In February 2025 endangered steelhead trout were rescued from Topanga Creek after a wildfire and taken to a hatchery. Rescue starts only after the flames are out and the burned area reopens. In the US our own field team works with the center.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this donation
Quenara Foundation funds licensed centers that dress burns and treat smoke injury in wildlife found after a fire. Rescuers go in only once rangers declare the area safe.
Quenara Foundation keeps paying for food and care during the two or three months some burned species need to heal. Before release a botanist confirms the habitat has grown back enough.
Thank you for asking. Your gift pays for rescue vehicle fuel and transport crates. It also covers burn dressings and medicine and oxygen and food through rehabilitation.
Nobody is sent in while flames are active. Rescue starts once rangers reopen the area and confirm it is safe.
The center's authorized and permitted team carries out rescue and transport. Our team never touches or treats wildlife. We pay for vehicles and supplies and work beside the center.
Veterinarians treat burns and smoke injury and dehydration. Licensed wildlife rehabilitators handle daily care and feeding until release.
Burns and smoke damage heal slowly. Some species need two to three months of treatment so food and care supplies are needed long after the fire.
A botanist checks that the release site has recovered enough. Rehabilitators then release it and your gift helps cover the travel.
Only wildlife hurt by wildfire. Burned or smoke affected or dehydrated or displaced wild patients are included. Pets are covered under Our Furry Friends.
We understand the wish. Priorities are set on site so each gift goes where the need is greatest that day.
Within 72 hours your account shows the city or district and the job your gift covered.
In the US our own field team works with the centers. In Canada and Australia and other countries our team works together with a local field partner.
Your receipt reaches your email as soon as the payment clears. Your donation number sits at the top.
