Support for loggerhead sea turtles at Mon Repos:
From December 1, 2026, our own team, our local partner and our volunteers will support licensed turtle rescuers at Mon Repos near Bundaberg through the loggerhead nesting season. We provide transport, veterinary supplies and care supplies for recovering turtles, and our volunteers clear marine debris and plastic from the nesting beaches, while only licensed rescuers, rangers and veterinarians handle and treat the turtles. Mon Repos is the most significant loggerhead turtle nesting site in the South Pacific, and the 2024 to 2025 season was its best in more than 50 years, with 516 loggerheads nesting. We work in close coordination with the local authorities.

Olive ridley sea turtle protection after the Panama earthquake:
Our field team and our local partner are on the ground now on Isla de Cañas, Tonosí, Los Santos, Panama, standing with the olive ridley sea turtles in the nesting season after the earthquake. The earthquake came at the peak of nesting. In coordination with the local authorities, we run night beach patrols and protected hatcheries and help hatchlings reach the sea safely.

Cold stunned turtles:
Every fall the water in Cape Cod Bay turns cold too fast for young sea turtles and they wash up on the sand. By 18 December 2025 rescuers had picked up 667 cold stunned turtles there and on 29 November alone 73 came ashore. On Cape Cod our own field team works beside the permitted rescue teams.

Jekyll Island cleanup:
In late October our team and local volunteers cleared debris from Jekyll Island. They stayed clear of every nest and never touched a turtle. On Jekyll Island our own field team got the beach ready for next season.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this donation
Quenara Foundation funds fuel and crates and vet care so permitted teams can rescue stranded or hooked sea turtles and treat them until release. Nests on nesting beaches are marked and guarded too.
Thank you for asking. Your gift covers fuel and transport crates for rescues. It also covers medicine and bloodwork and imaging and the food and filtered water a turtle needs in rehab.
Only permitted rescue teams and licensed specialists recover turtles and veterinarians treat them. Our team never touches a turtle or a nest. We fund the work and stand alongside those teams.
It depends on the case. Many turtles stay in care for months before a vet clears them for release.
Sadly some do not. A vet checks diving and feeding before release and only turtles that pass go back to sea.
Your receipt reaches your inbox the moment you give. Within 72 hours your account shows the area your gift served and the work it funded.
When ocean water drops fast in late fall young turtles go limp and drift ashore. Cape Cod saw 667 of them by 18 December 2025. Rescuers move them into care as fast as they can.
We appreciate the thought. The teams and vets on site decide which case comes first so your gift goes where the need is greatest that week.
Yes. Permitted teams mark and guard nests on nesting beaches. Gifts cover warning signs and protection materials and our team stays well clear of the nests.
Specialists fit tags to some released turtles so their movements can be followed. The tag and the monitoring are paid for by gifts like yours.
In the US our own field team works on the ground. On the Mexican coast our team works together with a local field partner.
Please keep your distance and do not push it back into the water. Call your local stranding hotline and stay nearby until a permitted team arrives.
Only at quenarafoundation.com and in the Quenara app. We do not accept gifts through any other channel.
We are always glad to help. Write to us through the contact page on our site or the support section in the app and our team will reply soon.
