Mother and Baby Care Points
Yemen's humanitarian plan for 2026 counts more than 2.2 million children under five and 1.3 million pregnant or breastfeeding women who are acutely malnourished. A Mother and Baby Care Point sits inside a partner clinic. Babies are weighed and measured every week. A midwife helps mothers with breastfeeding and each mother receives nutrition support along with nappies and a hygiene kit. A baby who is not gaining weight is referred for treatment the same day. The first point opens in Gaza and a second follows in Yemen. Your gift covers the scales and measuring tools and the midwife's wages and the support given to mothers. Every time the project completes a stage you will see the region and date of that stage in your account. The care point itself appears in photos on this page.
Nadia lives at a displacement site outside Marib with her husband and three children. Her youngest Salem is nine months old and has barely gained weight since the summer. The nearest clinic that can weigh him is an hour away by car and the family has no car. A midwife working with our local partner has put mother and baby among those waiting for the care point planned in Yemen.
