Amina's Story: The Day Hope Was Reborn
Amina is a girl, just 8 years old, from one of the poorest villages in Sierra Leone. After her mother died from illness, she was left alone. Every morning she walks 4 km to fetch water, and in the afternoon she's forced to plow fields. Her clothes are torn and she has no shoes. Her dream of going to school now seems like a distant fantasy. "I have no money for school," she says, hopelessness in her eyes. But this story changed.
Through Quenara Foundation's orphan girl sponsorship project, Amina's life completely transformed. In 2026, 1,247 orphan girls are being sponsored across 38 countries. In Sierra Leone alone, 89 girls received education, health, and nutrition support this year. Quenara provides not just financial aid, but also psychological support and education scholarships.
What Really Happens
There's another girl named Nina. She is just 6 years old and living with her aunt after her mother's death. But her aunt is also poor, unable to provide her with a bed, clothes, or food. Thanks to Quenara's sponsorship, now she eats three meals a day, goes to school, and draws pictures in her favorite class. "Now I have dreams," says Nina. "I want to be a teacher."
Not Numbers, Lives

"Thanks to Quenara, my daughter now goes to school. Before, we had no money for school, now she's one of the best students. This support gave her hope for the future." - Mariama, Amina's mother
