Disaster Preparedness | Ready Before the Storm

Every dollar spent on getting ready for a disaster can save up to fifteen in recovery according to the UN disaster risk office. In September 2026 a coastal storm pushed the ocean over the road to Ocracoke on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In Fiji the cyclone season runs from November to April. This gift gets a preparedness bag to a family in a high risk coastal town or village before the season turns. Inside are a torch and a whistle and a first aid kit. Water purification tablets and a waterproof pouch for papers complete it. The gift also funds preparedness training in the community. Schools run disaster drills and children and parents learn first aid. People learn to save wet documents and rescue drills are held with the local fire service. In the United States our own field team hands the bags over. In Fiji our team works with local partners. The team picks each place by its exposure to storms and floods and decides each week's work. Whoever delivers the bag walks the family through every item. Within 72 hours you learn the region and the season it is preparing for and the work your gift paid for. The day of the handover or the training follows. May ALLAH keep every home safe from harm.
