More than four hundred health and nutrition centres in Somalia closed over the past year. Measles is spreading again among young children. In Yemen fewer than half of health facilities still work. The Mobile Health Clinic follows a weekly route to villages far from any working clinic. The doctor sees patients and gives medicine on the spot. The midwife checks expectant mothers. Children are measured for growth. Those who have missed vaccines are referred to government vaccination teams. Serious cases are sent on to hospital. Each stop ends with a short health talk. Your gift covers medicines and the team's wages along with the vehicle's fuel and repairs. As the roadmap moves forward your account notes each finished stage with its region and the date. We post pictures of the clinic vehicle and its stops on this page.
Abdi drives a donkey cart between villages near Qoryooley and has four children under seven. The nearest clinic closed last year when its funding ran out and measles is spreading in the region. His youngest has never been vaccinated. His village is now on the weekly route planned with our local partner.
